Fabian Shaanika has served as Managing Director of Kelp Blue Namibia since January 2024. With nearly 20 years of mining experience from roles at Debmarine Namibia, Namdeb, Skorpion Zinc, and Rössing Uranium, Shaanika also spent five years in investment banking, specialising in mining and energy portfolios.
Academically, he holds a Bachelor of Science in Exploration Geophysics from Leeds University, an MBA from Stellenbosch University and certifications from Durham and Alberta universities. A SACNASP-registered geologist.
Fabian leads efforts to cultivate giant kelp forests, enhancing biodiversity, carbon sequestration and sustainable agriculture. His expertise and commitment to sustainability drive Kelp Blue’s mission to innovate and create local employment opportunities.
